Way Too Old to Act Our Age

Who says getting older means slowing down?

This blues-rock romp celebrates the wrinkles, replacement parts, good times, and the sheer joy of being old enough to know better—and doing it anyway.

Lyrics

WAY TOO OLD TO ACT OUR AGE
© Jim Molinelli

[Verse 1]
Eatin' picnics in parks and havin' brunches late,
Staying up past midnight can even feel great.
And spontaneous vacations still set our hearts on fire,
We’ve been pickin' up hobbies, like golf and fishin’.
We live every day fully, got no time for wishing.
We really started living life when we finally retired.

[Chorus]
We're way too old to act our age,
We keep livin’ life on our own stage,
Don't give a damn about the rules,
'Cause we ain't nobody's fools.
And we’re way too old…
…to act our age!

[Verse 2]
We will ride the waves of our golden days,
Even if we use colors to hide some grays.
And some of us have a few new replacement parts.
Rock ‘n Roll and denim we still wear em proud,
If the youngsters roll their eyes, we just laugh out loud.
A little Slow Hand still fills up our rock and roll hearts.

[Chorus]
We're way too old to act our age,
We keep livin’ life on our own stage,
Don't give a damn about the rules,
'Cause we ain't nobody's fools.
And we’re way too old…
…to act our age!

[Verse 3]
Takin' strolls in the rain, got no time to waste,
Sippin' wine or bourbon, but only for the taste.
We sure love our weekend cookouts with late night sing-alongs.
Enjoy those road trips in a tricked-out mini-van,
Pack some classic tunes, visit everyone ya’ can.
But the thing we value most is just knowing we belong.

[Chorus]
We're way too old to act our age,
We keep livin’ life on our own stage,
Don't give a damn about the rules,
'Cause we ain't nobody's fools.
And we’re way too old…
…to act our age!

[Verse 4]
In our Golden years we still laugh out loud,
As we chase down sunsets like a crazy crowd.
We have meds and supplements to keep ourselves from slowin’.
Every day counts, we know each one’s a gift,
Old dogs with new tricks, sure gives us all a lift.
We still channel our youth, and that passion keeps us goin’.

[Chorus]
We're way too old to act our age,
We’re still living life on our own stage,
Don't give a damn about the rules,
Show ‘em we ain't nobody's fools.
Yeah… We’re way too old…
…to act our age!

[Outro]
So here we stand, in laughter’s embrace,
Despite each new wrinkle, we still show our grace.
We ain’t ready to stop, the idea brings rage,
‘Cause we’re way too old to act our age.
