Velocity

VELOCITY
© Jim Molinelli

[verse]
Folks drenched in sunlight
Collect on the beach.
Wait for the launch
That’s just out of reach.

[verse]
The countdown is on,
A few hours to go
Celestial fireworks
Oh what a show.

[verse]
Excitement is building
The sky is so clear.
Sunset begins
The time grows near.

[verse]
The countdown ends
The engines ignite,
The rocket lifts off,
Oh, what a sight!

[chorus]
Velocity...
Your fiery power
Is easy to see
Your speed and direction
Will set you free.
Oh... Velocity...

You pass through the blue
And into the black...
As gravity’s grip
Cannot hold you back
Oh... Velocity!
Velocity.

[verse]
You leave Earth behind
and head towards the moon.
The ship is on course
You'll get there quite soon.

[verse]
You circle the moon,
Dark side bathed in black.
You'll see the Earth soon,
It’s time to head back.

[chorus]
Velocity...
Your fiery power
Is easy to see
Your speed and direction
Will set you free.
Oh... Velocity...

Fly through the black
And back into the blue...
As gravity’s grip
Re-welcomes you.
Oh... Velocity!
Velocity.
Velocity.

Velocity!
