Heavy Freight on Light Bridges

HEAVY FREIGHT ON LIGHT BRIDGES
© Jim Molinelli

[Verse 1]
Bridges move freight from here to there
The total weight on the bridge is just one factor
How long the weight remains is another
Combined loads and their duration matter

[Verse 2]
If a load is too heavy, or remains too long
The structure is harmed by the extra stress
Damage can't be reversed or undone
There’s no repair for this type of distress

[Chorus]
Heavy freight on light bridges, a danger to us all
If the loads remain too great… bridges sag or fall.
A compromised bridge… is tempting fate,
The best balance load duration, and weight.
Heavy freight on light bridges…

[Verse 3]
Human bridges carry the freight of this life
Each has load limits, so we weigh what we bear
Not all freight is bad... some burdens are light
We select cargo and guard our strength with care.

[Chorus]
Heavy freight on light bridges, a danger to us all
If the loads remain too great… bridges sag or fall.
A compromised bridge… is tempting fate,
The best balance load duration, and weight.
Heavy freight on light bridges…

[Bridge]
We're not real bridges doomed to bend or break
We choose our burdens and the cargo we take.
Select loads well and our structure lasts long,
Life passes smoothly, and we remain strong.

[Chorus]
Heavy freight on light bridges, a danger to us all
If the loads remain too great… bridges sag or fall.
A compromised bridge… is tempting fate,
The best balance load duration, and weight.
Heavy freight on light bridges…
