The Soundtrack of It All
Close your eyes, turn it up, and listen. You may hear more than a song. You just might hear the soundtrack of your own life.
"We didn’t notice them at the time...
But the sounds were the music all along."

ok?
here we go...
ONE, TWO, THREE, FOUR...
[Verse 1]
The toaster pops the bread up high, I put milk on my Rice Krispies.
Dad leaves and the screen door slams… his VW Bug starts up.
The percolator burps and gurgles, and its steam is a lil' bit whispy.
The wall phone rings for Sandy, while Mom pours coffee in a cup.
I love the noise of it all.
[CHORUS]
Life rolls by us like a movie,
But we never hear the score.
The music’s there all along...
In the sounds we’ve heard before.
...They're the soundtrack of it all.
[Verse 2]
I pull the cord to start the mower, and pry the cap off a Coca Cola.
Neighborhood kids ride by, with ball cards clicking on their spokes.
Joe honks three times as he arrives, Dad says “check in after bowling”.
Later that night I drop a dime in a payphone, to call my folks…
I love the noise of it all.
[CHORUS]
Life rolls by us like a movie,
But we never hear the score.
The music’s there all along,
In the sounds we’ve heard before...
...They're the soundtrack of it all.
[Verse 3]
A motorboat rips across the lake as the cicadas roar.
A distant siren wails as firecrackers echo...
The campfire sparks and crackles as waves slap the shore.
The static blares as I tune in songs on the radio...
I love the noise of it all.
[BRIDGE]
We didn’t notice them at the time...
But the sounds were the music all along.
So when our movie score is complete,
The soundtrack of life is the song!
[CHORUS]
Life rolls by us like a movie,
But we never hear the score.
The music’s there all along,
In the sounds we’ve heard before...
...They're the soundtrack of it all...
yeah...
...They're the soundtrack of it all!
